Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator – Gender and Inclusion will play a crucial role in advancing gender equality and social inclusion within FAO Lebanon’s portfolio. This position requires providing technical guidance to ensure that all programs effectively include and benefit marginalized groups such as women, youth, persons with disabilities, and refugees. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing gender and inclusion action plans, conducting analyses, and designing interventions that are inclusive and culturally appropriate. The role also involves building the capacities of partners on gender and inclusion and monitoring the effectiveness of FAO’s actions in promoting equitable participation in agriculture and food systems. The coordinator will work under the supervision of the FAO Representative and in close coordination with other units and colleagues in the office, ensuring that gender and inclusion considerations are integrated into all aspects of program and project design and implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Coordinator – Gender and Inclusion include: developing and monitoring the implementation of FAO Lebanon’s Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) action plan; providing technical leadership to integrate GESI across all FAO Lebanon programs and projects; conducting gender and inclusion analyses; supporting inclusive program and project design; strengthening staff and partner capacities through training and coaching; ensuring GESI sensitive monitoring and reporting; coordinating with government, UN, NGOs, and specialized organizations; and supporting inclusive communication and outreach. Additionally, the coordinator will participate in project management activities, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of assigned programs/projects, establishing working relations with stakeholders, and preparing various written outputs such as reports and background papers.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in social sciences, gender studies, social inclusion, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in gender equality and social inclusion mainstreaming in development or humanitarian programs, with proven experience in designing, implementing, or monitoring gender-responsive and inclusive action plans. A strong technical knowledge of GESI principles and approaches is essential, along with the ability to conduct analyses and integrate GESI considerations into program design. Candidates should also demonstrate strong skills in capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder coordination.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in social sciences, gender studies, gender and development, social inclusion, social policy, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender and social inclusion in development contexts and for effectively contributing to FAO's mission in Lebanon.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in gender equality and social inclusion mainstreaming within development or humanitarian programs. This experience should include proven capabilities in designing, implementing, and monitoring gender-responsive and inclusive action plans, interventions, and analyses. Familiarity with agricultural production systems and rural development dynamics is also beneficial.
Languages: A working knowledge (level C) of English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage, as it can enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and beneficiaries.
