Job Overview: The Managing Director for Youth Venture in Southeast Asia will play a pivotal role in driving the mission of Ashoka to prioritize changemaking skills among children and youth. This position requires a visionary leader who can catalyze a societal shift towards recognizing the importance of these skills, akin to literacy in the industrial era. The Managing Director will work collaboratively with Ashoka Fellows and other key stakeholders, including parents, schools, governments, and media, to influence and create demand for changemaking skills. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic vision and execution of Ashoka's Youth Venture initiatives in Southeast Asia.
Collaborate with Ashoka Fellows and other leaders to influence key societal actors on the importance of changemaking skills.
Develop and implement programs that promote changemaking skills in educational settings and among youth.
Engage with parents, schools, and governments to shift perceptions and practices regarding children's education and skills development.
Measure and report on the impact of initiatives aimed at promoting changemaking skills.
Foster partnerships with organizations and stakeholders that align with Ashoka's mission.
Represent Ashoka at various forums and events to advocate for changemaking skills.
Mentor and support team members in their professional development and project execution.
Required Qualifications:
Proven track record of leadership in social entrepreneurship or related fields.
Minimum of 15 years of work experience, with a focus on innovation and driving change.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to social impact and changemaking.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in social sciences, education, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Advanced degrees or certifications in social entrepreneurship or leadership are advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, ideally in roles that involve leadership, innovation, and social impact. Experience in educational reform, youth engagement, or community development is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia or other Southeast Asian languages is a plus, as it will facilitate better engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
