Job Overview:
The Associate Reporting Officer / Information Analyst will work under the direct supervision of the Political Affairs Officer/Team Leader of the Field Integrated Operation Centre (FIOC). The role involves providing situational awareness of the mission area through the compilation of daily reports, preparing analytical and technical briefings, and collecting and verifying reports from various sources. The officer will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date understanding of political, social, and security issues in South Sudan, monitoring events that may impact the mission, and contributing to decision-making processes through accurate reporting and analysis. The position requires a proactive approach to information management and the ability to produce timely reports that inform senior leadership. The officer will also engage in capacity-building efforts with national staff and counterparts, promoting volunteerism and national knowledge development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Reporting Officer / Information Analyst include but are not limited to:
  • Providing situational awareness of the mission area through daily report compilation.
  • Preparing analytical and technical briefings, reports, profiles, and trend analyses on issues in South Sudan.
  • Collecting, collating, and verifying reports from the FIOC and other sections/units.
  • Submitting daily reports to the Head of the Reporting Unit for synthesis into situational/operational information.
  • Maintaining knowledge of political, social, and security issues.
  • Monitoring and gathering information on events affecting the mission's implementation and safety.
  • Producing accurate and timely reports that inform decision-making by UNMISS leadership.
  • Ensuring relevant written inputs are prepared for mission reports.
  • Managing information for accessibility and utility. 1
  • Reviewing UN and non-UN information sources and drafting daily situational reports. 1
  • Drafting Flash Reports and updates during significant events or emergencies. 1
  • Providing professional support to the FIOC and maintaining an organized office. 1

Required Qualifications:

Languages:
