Job Overview: The Safety Team Leader will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of DRC's programs in the Dnipropetrovska and Zaporizka oblasts. This position requires close collaboration with the Head of Safety and the Area Manager to oversee safety coordination and information sharing among national actors. The Safety Team Leader will manage a team of two Safety Assistants and will be responsible for collecting, verifying, and analyzing safety-related information that impacts DRC operations. The role involves conducting risk assessments, managing safety documentation, and providing regular safety updates to staff. The Safety Team Leader will also represent DRC in inter-agency safety forums and ensure the implementation of safety policies and protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Safety Team Leader's duties include acting as the local focal point for safety coordination, collecting and analyzing safety information, establishing a network of contacts for safety support, tracking safety incidents, conducting risk assessments, managing the Safety Level System, and implementing the Critical Incident Management Plan. The role also involves preparing safety reports, providing safety advice for program development, supervising safety team members, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Additional responsibilities include conducting site assessments, managing safety incidents, developing contingency plans, and promoting a positive image of DRC.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field, at least 3 years of experience in field safety, and a strong background in operating within hostile security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security environments. Proficiency in English and Ukrainian is required, along with excellent reporting skills and familiarity with humanitarian principles. Experience in security operations, multicultural settings, information gathering, and hazardous environments is essential. People management experience is also necessary for this role.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant area is required for this position. This educational background should provide the candidate with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage safety operations and lead a team in a challenging environment.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in field safety, particularly in hostile security environments. This experience should include a proven track record of managing safety operations, conducting risk assessments, and implementing safety protocols. Familiarity with humanitarian operations and the ability to work in multicultural settings are also important aspects of the required experience.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The position offers an open-ended contract subject to performance and funding, following a successful 3-month probation period. The role is classified at Level G - management, with the designated duty station in Dnipro. The start date is as soon as possible, and salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council's Terms of Employment for national staff.
