Job Overview: The Research Associate position at CHAI is designed for a highly motivated individual who will contribute to malaria programs by enhancing surveillance systems in CHAI's program countries. The role involves providing technical expertise in data analysis, study design, and program implementation. The Research Associate will play a crucial role in organizing and analyzing various datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and contributing to operational research projects aimed at improving malaria interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: organizing, cleaning, managing, and integrating diverse datasets such as epidemiological, demographic, intervention, climate, and geospatial data; conducting statistical and spatial analyses to evaluate intervention effectiveness and understand disease patterns; contributing to the development and implementation of operational research projects; providing technical support and training to staff involved in surveillance activities; supporting the institutionalization of data reviews and the development of data collection tools and dashboards; documenting lessons learned and formulating training materials; synthesizing and disseminating findings through presentations, reports, and publications; maintaining collaborative relationships with CHAI team members and external partners; and representing CHAI at technical meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline, along with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience. They should have experience working in an international context or entrepreneurial environment, proficiency in biostatistics, and strong data management skills. Familiarity with statistical and geospatial analysis programming (R, Python, SAS, STATA, ArcGIS, QGIS) is essential, as is experience in designing and conducting epidemiological analyses or surveys. Candidates should also have experience with surveillance platforms, data collection tools, and data visualization applications. High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and exceptional English communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse settings.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of health data and for effectively contributing to malaria surveillance and intervention strategies.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience is required, particularly in an international context or entrepreneurial environment.
