Wahana Riset Indonesia (Young Scientists Incubator) is an initiative from WRI Indonesia aimed at nurturing young researchers to conduct research on environmental issues and generate high-quality knowledge products that support science-based policy-making in sustainable development. Established as part of WRI Indonesia's efforts, this initiative has successfully completed two previous batches from 2017 to 2019, resulting in significant outputs including 11 scientific publications, 4 international conference presentations, 6 policy notes, and 2 books. WRI Indonesia operates in multiple countries and has a global staff of over 1,800 people, working across 60 countries with a mission to address critical environmental challenges.

Job Overview:
The Young Environmental Researcher position is designed for individuals passionate about conducting research on environmental issues, particularly in the context of Indonesia's coastal cities. The selected candidate will engage in research that addresses the theme of 'Reimagining Resilient Coastal Cities in Indonesia.' This role involves co-producing research products in various areas such as Urban Coastal Climate Vulnerability and Resilience, Coastal Livelihood and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security, Sustainable Aquaculture, Air Pollution in Coastal Areas, Climate Action Planning, and Urban Transport. The research assistant will work closely with WRI Indonesia's research clusters to develop and refine research questions and approaches, contributing to innovative, data-driven solutions to enhance climate resilience in urban settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Young Environmental Researcher include conducting thorough research on assigned topics, co-authoring high-quality research papers and reports, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of knowledge products. The researcher will also be expected to co-author opinion pieces for publication in various media outlets, adhere to ethical research guidelines, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data. Additionally, the researcher must consistently deliver results within agreed time frames and ensure that all research tasks meet WRI's standards. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams while also being able to work independently.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of research experience and at least 2 years of formal working experience. A strong academic background is essential, ideally with a minimum GPA of 3.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of formal working experience in a relevant field, along with at least 3 years of research experience. This experience can include part-time research conducted during university studies or research undertaken while employed in a related job. The emphasis is on early-career researchers who are eager to contribute to significant environmental research.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and Indonesian is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate their language skills through standardized tests such as TOEFL or IELTS. While proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial, it is not a requirement for this role.

This position is offered as a part-time, limited-term contract for an Individual Consultant, with a daily rate-based payment structure allowing for a maximum of 18 working days per month on average.
