Job Overview:
The UN Coordination and Environment Outreach Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Climate Change Section within the Air Transport Bureau (ATB) of ICAO. This position involves coordinating with various UN bodies and international organizations to address environmental issues related to aviation. The consultant will be responsible for developing a roadmap for ICAO's participation in significant events such as the UNFCCC COP28, monitoring relevant activities of other organizations, and preparing documentation and reports. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with stakeholders and ensure that ICAO's environmental initiatives are effectively communicated and implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key functions: 1) Supporting ICAO's coordination with other UN bodies and international organizations on environmental matters, including the development of a roadmap for participation in UNFCCC COP28 and monitoring relevant activities. 2) Assisting in the preparation of materials, documentation, reports, and presentations related to ICAO's environmental objectives, including reviewing and updating the ICAO homepage on environmental strategic objectives. 3) Organizing ICAO events related to the environment, which includes planning, preparation, execution, and follow-up of events, coordinating with speakers and attendees, and developing outreach materials. 4) Performing other related duties as assigned, which may include additional research and administrative tasks to support the overall objectives of the Environment Bureau.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, law, finance, economics, aviation, or environment, with knowledge of socio-economic aspects of sustainable development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in the mentioned disciplines combined with three additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. Essential qualifications also include a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in international aviation and environment, proven project management skills, excellent interpersonal and coordination skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as business administration, law, finance, economics, aviation, or environment. Candidates with a first-level university degree in these areas, along with additional professional experience, may also be considered. Knowledge of sustainable development and socio-economic aspects is essential for this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in international aviation and environmental issues. Candidates should have proven experience in coordinating various phases of project management, including development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of program activities. Experience in organizing international meetings and interacting with aviation officials and technical experts is also necessary. The ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet strict deadlines is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are essential for this position. A working knowledge of French is also required. Additionally, a working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable, which would enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the organization.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is initially for a period of five months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs. The monthly compensation for this role falls within the range of CAD $3,991 to CAD $5,172, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The position is full-time and may involve international collaboration, requiring flexibility and adaptability to work with diverse teams.
