Job Overview: The Local Security Assistant will play a crucial role within the Security Administration and Support Unit of UNAMA. This position is vital for ensuring the smooth functioning of administrative and logistical processes essential to the Security Section's operations. The Local Security Assistant will be responsible for supporting procurement, management, and distribution of security assets, as well as coordinating financial and budget-related activities. The role requires effective record-keeping, reporting, and coordination with finance and procurement units to maintain operational readiness. The Local Security Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Security Adviser and will be expected to contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Security Section's response to mission needs and challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Local Security Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in preparing requisitions and Shopping Carts, ensuring alignment with budgets and product specifications; compiling expenditure data and assisting with financial reports; processing fund obligations and commitments for security services; coordinating with finance on payment approvals and assisting with cost recovery documentation; preparing Low-Value Purchase Orders and Service Entry Sheets; organizing technical evaluations and performance reports for procurement and contract management; maintaining accurate records and assisting in preparing documents for audits and management reviews; and performing any other functions as assigned by the Supervisor. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate integrity and professionalism, with a high degree of autonomy and personal initiative. They should possess effective organizational and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently, and the capacity to establish priorities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment are essential. Additionally, candidates should show a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to changes in the work environment. Additional Notes: The contract duration is subject to availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The position may require travel to the duty station, and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided if the duty station is not within commuting distance. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance will be provided to cover housing, utilities, and normal living expenses. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included, along with final repatriation benefits if applicable. In non-family duty stations classified as hardship categories D or E, a Well-Being Differential will be provided on a monthly basis.
