Job Overview: The Junior Consultant in Knowledge Management for Global Agricultural Supply Chains will play a crucial role in enhancing the sustainability of agricultural supply chains that impact billions of lives. This position is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative, which aims to improve social, economic, and ecological sustainability in global agricultural supply chains. The consultant will be responsible for managing knowledge transfer, developing monitoring and communication tools, and supporting the management in organizational development and process control. The role requires active engagement in knowledge management and the establishment of networks with internal and external partners, contributing to the overall goals of the initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Junior Consultant include:
Contributing to the preparation of thematic knowledge and actively managing knowledge transfer and network building with partners.
Supporting the development and revision of monitoring and communication tools, collecting and analyzing qualitative and standardized data, and reporting on project progress.
Assisting management in organizational development and process control within the initiative.
Preparing, conducting, documenting, and following up on internal and external meetings and events.
Engaging in specific technical topics and supporting BMZ consultations on supply chains through research, providing updates, statements, speeches, and comments.
Creating impactful presentations and carefully revising texts under time constraints.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
Proven relevant expertise in ecological or social sustainability of supply chains or global agricultural commodities.
Initial experience in website creation and working with content management systems.
Native-level proficiency in German and fluent English, with additional fluency in either Spanish or French.
Excellent communication skills, a clear and understandable writing style, and a friendly, proactive demeanor.
Strong teamwork abilities, resilience, and meticulous self-organization.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a completed university degree in political science, economics, agricultural economics, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of agricultural supply chains and sustainability issues.
Experience: The position requires initial practical experience, preferably in developing countries, in the field of international cooperation, project management, and knowledge management. Familiarity with GIZ processes is also advantageous.
Languages: Mandatory languages for this position include German at a native level and English fluently. Additionally, candidates should have fluent skills in either Spanish or French, which are considered beneficial for the role.
Additional Notes: This position can be filled on a full-time or part-time basis. Regular business travel is expected, and the willingness to work under varying conditions both domestically and internationally is of high importance to GIZ.
