Job Overview: The position of Junior Specialist in Corporate Sustainability Management focuses on supporting the GIZ's sustainability data management both domestically and internationally from the Bonn location. The role involves assisting in the implementation of requirements from various management systems, including the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and the Corporate Sustainability Handprint (CSH). The successful candidate will coordinate processes related to the collection, validation, and evaluation of sustainability data, contribute to the annual environmental and climate balance of the company, and prepare sustainability data in accordance with reporting requirements. Additionally, the role includes conducting data analyses for monitoring and further development of sustainability and climate management, as well as participating in the development of the data management system in response to new regulatory requirements. The position also entails modeling the management process for ensuring sustainability and quality, providing advice on process optimizations, and engaging in knowledge management and cross-functional tasks within the group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the sustainability data management of GIZ from Bonn, both domestically and internationally.
Assist in implementing requirements from management systems such as EMAS and CSH.
Coordinate processes for collecting, validating, and evaluating sustainability data.
Contribute to the annual preparation of the company's environmental and climate balance.
Conduct data analyses for monitoring and further development of sustainability and climate management.
Act as a data manager to enhance the data management system and address necessary adjustments due to new regulatory requirements.
Support the modeling of the management process for ensuring sustainability and quality.
Provide advice on process optimizations.
Participate in knowledge management and actively engage in cross-functional tasks such as communication, team events, and digital topics.
Initial professional experience in corporate sustainability management, particularly in areas such as environmental/climate management, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and data management.
Practical experience with management systems like EMAS is advantageous.
High affinity for data and Excel, along with strong analytical and conceptual skills.
Structured working style and excellent communication skills.
Strong team orientation and openness to agile work structures, along with a high degree of independence, initiative, and commitment.
Fluent in German and English.
Educational Background: A university degree is required, preferably in fields related to sustainability or environmental sciences. Alternatively, degrees in business or natural sciences are acceptable.
Experience: The position requires initial professional experience in corporate sustainability management, with a focus on environmental and climate management, greenhouse gas accounting, and data management. Experience with management systems like EMAS is considered beneficial, as well as familiarity with corporate process management and process modeling.
Languages: Fluent German and English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: This position can be filled on a full-time or part-time basis. Occasional business travel is expected. The organization has eliminated the option for fixed-term contracts without cause since November 1, 2022, although fixed-term contracts based on objective reasons remain possible. Employees are expected to be willing to work at all GIZ locations both domestically and internationally as part of the organization's goals.
