Job Overview:
The EVAW Grant-Giving Programme Specialist will report to the Deputy Chief and will be responsible for strategic thinking around grant-giving and funding approaches, managing the UN Trust Fund’s overall Grant-making Programme, and supporting grant-making related knowledge and exchange. The role requires the development and implementation of a grant-giving strategy that aligns with the UN Trust Fund’s new Strategic Plan 2026-203
  • The specialist will also contribute to the internal grant-making systematization and support the organization of major events, trainings, and workshops related to grant-giving and grants management. The position demands a strong understanding of the processes related to grant-making and the ability to provide analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis and reporting on applications related to ending violence against women and girls.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic thinking around grant-giving and funding approaches, including drafting and implementing a grant-giving strategy, developing programmatic capacity development tools, and contributing to internal grant-making systematization.
  • Manage the end-to-end technical aspects of the UNTF-EVAW Grant-making Programme, including developing annual work plans, liaising with various stakeholders, and overseeing communications with applicants.
  • Guide coordination with partners and stakeholders, providing technical guidance to potential grant applicants and facilitating communication across various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate knowledge management and exchange related to the Grant-making Programme, including gathering information for reporting, contributing to knowledge products, and preparing periodic reports.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization, managing up to 60 affiliate personnel each year.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, management, social sciences, or related areas. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates must have at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in managing complex and multi-component ending violence against women programme interventions, experience in coordinating and administering grant-making programmes, and experience with databases and data management. Experience working with civil society organizations, particularly women’s rights organizations, is desirable, as is previous experience in the UN system or with other feminist funds.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, management, or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted.

Experience:
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience at the national or international level in managing complex and multi-component ending violence against women programme interventions is required. Experience in coordinating, implementing, and administering grant-making programmes and projects is also required, along with project management experience, preferably in grants management. Familiarity with databases and data management is essential, and experience working with civil society organizations, particularly women’s rights organizations, is desirable. Previous experience in the UN system or with feminist funds is also a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is highly desirable, as it would enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
