Job Overview:
The position of Analista (Coordenador) de Pesquisas de Direitos Humanos e Acesso à Justiça involves coordinating and executing qualitative and quantitative research related to human rights and access to justice. The selected candidate will work closely with teams from UNDP and the National Justice Council (CNJ), ensuring that research is planned and implemented effectively across various programmatic axes. The role requires a strong understanding of intersectional issues and the ability to engage critically in discussions about research strategies. The coordinator will lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality outputs and fostering strategic partnerships to disseminate knowledge generated by the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include:
  • Planning and supervising research: Coordinate the planning and execution of research projects, defining objectives, theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and timelines. Supervise the development and application of tools for qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Monitoring and ensuring research quality: Monitor the progress of research projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines and the delivery of high-quality outputs. Ensure that research follows rigorous methodological and ethical standards, including data validation and detailed statistical analysis.
  • Producing technical materials and analyses: Prepare technical notes, reports, and analytical documents to support program activities and inform strategic decisions. Supervise the systematization of qualitative and quantitative data into applicable products for judicial policies and institutional decisions.
  • Managing contracts and strategic partnerships: Develop terms of reference for hiring technical consultancies and specialized companies, evaluate proposals, and supervise contracts. Map and establish strategic partnerships with universities, research institutes, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.
  • Systematizing and disseminating knowledge: Systematize new methodologies, best practices, and knowledge developed through research. Produce technical and educational materials to facilitate knowledge transfer to CNJ and other strategic actors. Contribute to the dissemination of results through events, publications, and other outreach means.
  • Coordinating the team and inter-institutional collaboration: Supervise and guide the team of researchers and data specialists, promoting alignment, integration, and efficiency. Collaborate with technical coordination to formulate recommendations based on research results for judicial policy formulation and implementation.
  • Participating and providing strategic support: Participate in program meetings and events related to research and data, ensuring alignment with CNJ, UNDP, and institutional partners' guidelines. Support the General Coordination in technical and strategic activities related to research execution, reporting progress through periodic reports.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Human Sciences, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Law, Public Administration, or related fields is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields combined with 2 additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in coordinating or conducting research and/or coordinating human rights and/or access to justice projects (4 years for Bachelor's degree holders).
  • Proficiency in information technology and knowledge of the MS Office suite.
  • Desired skills include experience working with public sector partners, especially within the justice system, and experience in research related to human rights and access to justice.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Human Sciences, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Law, or Public Administration. A Bachelor's degree in these areas, combined with additional relevant experience, may also be acceptable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or 4 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in coordinating or conducting research and/or coordinating projects related to human rights and access to justice.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of English is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.
