Job Overview: The position of Associado/a de Direito is integral to the Programa Justiça Plural, a collaborative initiative between the National Justice Council and UNDP aimed at strengthening the Brazilian judiciary's capacity to promote human rights and enhance access to justice for structurally vulnerable populations. The role involves providing specialized technical support for the development of legal instruments and conducting legal research related to legislation and jurisprudence pertinent to the program. The Associado/a will also serve as a technical reference for the program team, assisting in activities that involve partnerships and the creation of legal instruments across various Federative Units. This position is designed for remote work, allowing the candidate to operate from any location within Brazil, thereby facilitating a flexible work environment while contributing to significant social justice initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associado/a de Direito will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Producing legal subsidies and normative documents by conducting research and drafting resolutions, recommendations, and other legal instruments focused on human rights and access to justice for vulnerable populations.
Conducting legal research on relevant legislation and jurisprudence, identifying best practices and regulations that can be integrated into the program's policies.
Assisting in the formulation of judicial policies and producing manuals and guides for their implementation, as well as advising on local action plans and pilot projects in collaboration with justice tribunals.
Supporting institutional capacity development within Federative Units by creating practical guides and orientation materials, and providing technical inputs for training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops.
Collaborating with researchers to develop and monitor research projects, and contributing to the preparation of technical reports on program activities and outcomes.
Engaging in institutional partnerships by participating in missions and meetings, mappingstrategic partnerships to enhance the institutional actions of the National Justice Council and UNDP.
Providing operational support for administrative tasks related to recruitment, launching calls for applications, team integration, and other HR-related activities. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the program's implementation at a national level, aligning with the goals set by UNDP and the National Justice Council.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma, with a university degree in law being highly regarded but not mandatory. A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in the legal field is required for those with a high school diploma, or 4 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in information technology and be familiar with the MS Office suite. Additionally, experience with the judicial system, particularly in normative or procedural areas, public management, public policies, and legislative drafting is desirable. Knowledge of human rights, socio-environmental rights, and issues affecting vulnerable populations is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma. However, candidates with a university degree (bachelor's) in law will be given preference. The educational background should ideally include knowledge of legal principles, human rights, and access to justice frameworks, as well as familiarity with socio-environmental issues and public policy development.
