Job Overview: The Green Transition Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the 'Inclusive and Just Pathway to 2030: Green Energy Future' project in Kosovo. This project aims to facilitate a transition from coal-based energy production to renewable energy sources, aligning with Kosovo's Energy Strategy 2022-2031 and the EU's climate commitments. The analyst will work under the direct supervision of the UNDP Project Manager, contributing to the successful execution of project activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring that project outputs are delivered on time and meet quality standards. The role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including government entities, private sector partners, and local communities, to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy adoption. The analyst will also be responsible for conducting policy analysis, drafting reports, and identifying opportunities for enhancing the project's impact on energy poverty and climate resilience in Kosovo.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Green Transition Analyst will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Supporting the management of the project to ensure timely and effective implementation of activities.
Drafting policy analyses, reports, and research briefs related to energy and green transition initiatives.
Identifying new opportunities in the areas of Just Transition, climate action, and energy efficiency, and advising the portfolio manager accordingly.
Supporting data systems and policy-making processes related to green recovery and community engagement.
Contributing to the preparation of annual work plans, budgets, and procurement plans.
Regularly reviewing project details, schedules, deliverables, and budgets to ensure adherence to project goals.
Monitoring project risks and issues, providing strategic support to the Project Manager as needed.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with institutional and organizational partners.
Supporting the dissemination of project achievements and raising awareness about energy efficiency and related topics. 1
Performing other duties as required to ensure the efficient functioning of the project and the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Climate, Environment, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned areas combined with at least two years of relevant professional experience will be considered. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in research, policy analysis, and report writing in the climate and energy sectors. Experience in environmental initiatives, strategic planning, stakeholder cooperation, and project management is highly desirable. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, and familiarity with web-based management systems are also required.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Climate, or Environment is required. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in these fields must have at least two years of relevant experience to be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of climate and energy policies and for effectively contributing to the project’s objectives.
Experience: The position requires candidates with a Master’s degree to have no prior professional work experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in research, policy analysis, and report writing in the climate and energy sectors. Experience in environmental initiatives and familiarity with the UN system are considered advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in either Albanian or Serbian. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the preparation of project documentation and reports.
