Job Overview: The National Stakeholder Engagement Specialist for the GBF EAS Project will play a crucial role in facilitating stakeholder engagement and collaboration among various national and local entities involved in the project. This position requires a deep understanding of the environmental and social dynamics within the Maldives, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance stakeholder participation, ensuring that all voices are heard and considered in the project’s decision-making processes. The role also involves coordinating workshops, meetings, and consultations to gather input and feedback from stakeholders, thereby fostering a collaborative environment that supports the project’s objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy for the GBF EAS Project, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
Identify key stakeholders and establish effective communication channels to facilitate ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
Organize and facilitate stakeholder workshops, meetings, and consultations to gather input and feedback on project activities and outcomes.
Prepare reports and documentation summarizing stakeholder engagement activities, outcomes, and recommendations for project improvement.
Collaborate with project team members to integrate stakeholder feedback into project planning and implementation.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement efforts, making adjustments as necessary to enhance participation and collaboration.
Serve as a liaison between the project team and stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide training and capacity-building support to stakeholders to enhance their understanding of the project and its objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, community development, or related fields, preferably within the context of environmental or social projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and meetings, fostering an inclusive and participatory environment.
Knowledge of the environmental and social issues facing the Maldives, particularly in relation to sustainable development.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, social sciences, development studies, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred and may be considered an asset.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in stakeholder engagement, community development, or project management, with a focus on environmental or social issues. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Maldives is considered an asset and would enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is from 15-Feb-25 to 30-Jun-25, totaling 95 days. This is a full-time position, and the specialist will be expected to work closely with the UNDP team and stakeholders throughout the assignment. Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process, and the position is open to both national and international candidates.
