The internship position at the United Nations in Panama City is designed to provide support in various areas including coordination, strategic planning, data analytics, policy analysis, and operational support. The role is integral to the functioning of the UN's Development Coordination Office (DCO) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG), focusing on enhancing knowledge sharing and strategic planning through data analytics and policy facilitation. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the internship position include:
  • Coordination and Executive Support: Assisting in the preparation of guidance materials, facilitating online communities, supporting senior-level management meetings, and preparing analytical slide decks.
  • Strategic Planning, Data & Analytics: Supporting analytics on DCO/UNSDG issues, developing corporate visualization solutions, building interactive dashboards, and performing ad-hoc analysis.
  • Policy Analysis & Programme Facilitation: Monitoring regional trends, preparing analytical reports, coordinating strategy formulation, and supporting knowledge management.
  • Administration and Operational Support: Assisting in budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, managing contracts, and performing other administrative duties as required. This comprehensive set of responsibilities ensures that interns gain a well-rounded experience in various aspects of UN operations.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: (a) Enrollment in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in a related field; (b) Enrollment in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level) in a related field. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate a strong intention to pursue further studies or work in a relevant field. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential, while no prior work experience is required for application.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program in a field related to the internship.
