Job Overview:
The Cultural Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the implementation of the project 'ReThinking Policies for Creativity and Artistic Freedom: Gender and Creativity', funded by the UNESCO-SIDA program. This role involves the execution of various components of the project, including the organization of the seventh edition of the Cultural Managers Scholarship 2024, integrating new educational and cultural institutions as allies, leading communication actions, and monitoring budget execution. The coordinator will also oversee the organization of the III Cusco Forum on cultural heritage protection and restitution, ensuring effective collaboration with the Peruvian government and UNESCO headquarters. The position requires a strong focus on gender perspectives and youth engagement in cultural initiatives, contributing to the development of economic and social opportunities through culture and creativity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Cultural Project Coordinator include:
  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising the implementation of the project 'ReThinking Policies for Creativity and Artistic Freedom: Gender and Creativity'.
  • Leading the organization of the seventh edition of the Cultural Managers Scholarship 2024, ensuring its effective execution and communication.
  • Coordinating the III Cusco Forum, including planning activities, preparing necessary documents, and organizing meetings with stakeholders.
  • Supervising the Technical Secretariat of the Pact for Culture by proposing initiatives, preparing presentations, and organizing plenary sessions.
  • Leading the study on 'Amazonian Fashion', including preparing conceptual proposals and ensuring compliance with UNESCO publication standards.
  • Supporting the Ministry of Culture in the preparation for the MONDIACULT 2025 conference and coordinating communication actions.
  • Assisting in the development of intersectoral proposals and exploring potential donors for cultural projects.
  • Participating in relevant training and performing other tasks assigned by the National Culture Officer.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include:
  • A Master's degree in Political Science, Cultural Management, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Communication Sciences, Humanities, or related fields.
  • Over eight years of experience in managing cultural policies, projects, or programs.
  • At least two years of experience in general coordination or supervision of cultural sector units.
  • Desirable experience in the United Nations system.
  • Knowledge of public policies and cultural management, project formulation, and international cooperation.
  • Excellent formal communication skills and knowledge of protocols.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Political Science, Cultural Management, or Public Administration, along with a Bachelor's degree in related disciplines like Social Sciences or Humanities. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of cultural policies and project management.

Experience:
The position requires more than eight years of professional experience in managing cultural policies, projects, or programs. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in coordinating or supervising cultural sector units, with a preference for those who have worked within the United Nations system.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken, is mandatory. A good command of English, also written and spoken, is highly desirable, as it facilitates communication with international stakeholders and enhances the effectiveness of project implementation.

Additional Notes:
This is a non-staff contract position with a duration of 7 to 11 months, subject to satisfactory performance evaluation. The workweek consists of a minimum of 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday. The estimated monthly salary is paid in local currency, and UNESCO contributes up to 10% to a pension plan and up to 5% for health insurance, contingent upon proof of enrollment in a relevant plan. Contract holders are entitled to paid annual leave, sick leave, and other benefits, with annual leave accruing at a rate of 2.5 days per month.
