Job Overview:
The Communications and Visibility Specialist will be integral to FAO Mozambique, tasked with enhancing the visibility of FAO’s initiatives and ensuring effective communication of its achievements. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including national and international partners, government institutions, civil society, and media, to promote awareness of FAO's projects. The specialist will develop and implement communication strategies that align with FAO’s global goals while addressing the specific context of Mozambique. The position requires a proactive individual capable of managing multiple communication activities and ensuring consistency and accuracy in messaging.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic communication development and implementation: Develop a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with FAO Mozambique’s Country Programming Framework (CPF) for 2022-2026, covering media engagement, public relations, digital communication, and community outreach. Provide guidelines and training for project teams to ensure consistency in communication outputs.
  • Content development and dissemination: Produce high-quality communication materials that reflect FAO’s impact in Mozambique, manage social media channels, and ensure effective dissemination of materials through various media.
  • Media and stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets, facilitate media visits to project sites, and organize press events.
  • Communication for donor reporting: Collaborate with project teams to compile information for donor reports and document lessons learned from projects.
  • Support to FAO Mozambique Communication Team: Provide technical support and capacity-building opportunities for the communication team, ensuring alignment with FAO’s global communication strategy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in similar communication roles is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of English and Portuguese, as well as strong competencies in results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates must have their qualifications recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in communication roles, demonstrating a strong background in developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, and producing high-quality communication materials.

Languages:
Working knowledge of English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
