Job Overview: The Project Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and Justice Programme (SJP) funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO). This five-year programme aims to tackle criminal violence and gender-based violence (GBV) while strengthening the service delivery capacity of the Nepal Police and other key duty-bearers. The incumbent will be responsible for compiling and documenting project information, maintaining project files, providing logistical support for meetings and events, tracking project milestones, and preparing progress updates. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. The Project Support Officer will also assist in monitoring project budgets, maintaining a risk register, and supporting communication efforts with potential donors and partners. This position is integral to ensuring the successful delivery of the SJP and contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 16.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of functions, including: compiling and documenting project information such as proposals, legal agreements, progress reports, and meeting records; maintaining and updating project files and records in corporate files; providing logistical support for meetings, workshops, and events; tracking project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables; preparing and submitting progress updates for the Quarterly Assurance process; monitoring project budgets and ensuring alignment with financial plans; maintaining a risk register and contributing to risk mitigation strategies; providing general communication support for the project; assisting in the development of proposals and communication with potential donors; taking notes and preparing minutes of meetings; and supporting the preparation of briefing materials for external meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma as a minimum requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in international relations, public administration, social science, economics, or a related field is preferred and may substitute for required years of experience. A minimum of 4 years of experience in a support services role is required, preferably in project or programme management. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, along with proficiency in Google Suite applications or equivalent MS Office programs, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with UNOPS systems and procedures is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, along with a commitment to the UNOPS mission and values.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international relations, public administration, social science, or economics is considered an asset and may substitute for the required years of experience.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in a support services role, ideally within project or programme management environments. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively, demonstrating experience in maintaining project documentation and providing logistical support for meetings and events.
Languages: Fluency in English, including writing, reading, and speaking, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
