Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director is a pivotal role within the STRIDES initiative, responsible for leading and directing technical focus areas to enhance global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in priority countries. This position requires a strategic alignment of technical frameworks, approaches, tools, and activities with relevant normative guidelines and technical standards. The Technical Director will work closely with various stakeholders, including technical leads, the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Advisor, and the Program Management Project Director, to ensure that the technical approach is cascaded effectively and adheres to the US Government's Global Health Security (GHS) priorities. The role encompasses accountability for the successful delivery of all technical aspects and reporting across STRIDES, ensuring that all technical deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet or exceed quality standards. The Technical Director will also engage with specialized partners to enhance technical performance and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Director will serve as the technical lead and primary point of contact for relevant topics within STRIDES. Key responsibilities include providing technical direction for the development of country-specific workplans and budgets, ensuring alignment with STRIDES objectives and USG priorities. The Technical Director will ensure the timely development and submission of high-quality technical deliverables, including workplans, reports, and success stories. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with STRIDES contracts, government regulations, and quality standards. The Technical Director will respond to client requests regarding technical matters, oversee the performance of subcontractors, and collaborate with the MEL Advisor and Project Director to support monitoring and evaluation activities. The position also requires promoting STRIDES successes through effective communication and representation at global health security-focused events. The Technical Director will support the professional development of direct reports and coordinate with the Senior Management Team to set budgets and goals for projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or its international equivalent in public health or other relevant health-related fields, along with five to seven years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with eight years of experience in related areas is acceptable. Project Management certification is preferred, and prior experience with USG-funded contracts is strongly preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of contract and project management practices, as well as technical development, is essential. The ability to exercise judgment within defined practices and policies is necessary for selecting appropriate methods and techniques for problem-solving. Experience working with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) is advantageous, as is experience in an international non-governmental organization (INGO).

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master’s degree or its international equivalent in public health or other relevant health-related fields. A Bachelor’s degree is acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience. The educational background should provide a strong foundation in public health principles and practices, as well as an understanding of global health security issues.

Experience:
The Technical Director should have five to seven years of relevant experience if holding a Master’s degree, or eight years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include project management, technical development, and working with governmental health agencies. Prior experience with USG-funded contracts is highly desirable, as is experience in an international non-governmental organization (INGO).

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali are mandatory. Proficiency in documentation and reporting in both languages is essential for this role. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
