Job Overview:
The position involves providing consultancy services for territorial development processes and local economic development. The selected consultant will engage in various activities aimed at supporting ongoing projects or new initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The role is expected to include project formulation, development planning, training local stakeholders, and contributing to strategic documents and knowledge products. The consultant will work remotely and is expected to start in February 2025, with a maximum of 200 working days over a two-year period. This position is crucial for enhancing local capacities and promoting sustainable development in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the formulation of territorial development and local economic development projects in the region.
  • Assist in the preparation of territorial development plans.
  • Provide training on territorial and local economic development to local actors in the countries.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic documents such as concept notes, implementation guides, and policy documents related to these areas.
  • Assist in conceptualizing regional and global events that promote territorial and local economic development, including the preparation of technical content.
  • Contribute to the systematization of best practices and lessons learned from implemented projects, and support the development of knowledge products for dissemination.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in project management, particularly in the fields of territorial development and local economic development, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development principles and possess a deep understanding of the socio-economic context of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in social sciences, economics, development studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or related areas would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in consultancy roles related to territorial development and local economic development. Experience working with international organizations or in a multicultural environment is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of other languages spoken in the region would be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This is a long-term agreement for individual consultants, with a contract duration of 2 years and a maximum of 200 working days during this period. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
