Job Overview: The Social and Behavior Change Officer will work under the supervision of the Chief Advocacy and Communications. The role involves providing technical and operational support to promote community engagement and measurable behavioral and social change in both humanitarian and development contexts. The officer will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies for social and behavior change (SBC) activities, conducting situation analyses, and assessing the impact of these activities on UNICEF's goals. The position requires collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure effective outreach and impact, as well as advocacy and partnership building to promote UNICEF's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of SBC activities by conducting comprehensive situation analyses and organizing materials for SBC strategies.
Implement SBC activities by collaborating with partners to design strategies, develop materials, and organize events.
Build and maintain partnerships through networking and collaboration with civil society organizations and community groups.
Institutionalize best practices and knowledge sharing to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in SBC planning and implementation.
Monitor and track the use of resources for SBC initiatives, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines and standards.
Required Qualifications: A university degree in social and behavioral sciences, sociology, anthropology, psychology, education, communication, public relations, or a relevant technical field is required. A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development program planning, communication for development, or public advocacy is necessary. Experience in emergency situations and humanitarian settings is also required. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in relevant fields such as social and behavioral sciences, sociology, anthropology, psychology, education, communication, or public relations. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of social behavior and communication strategies.
