Duties and Responsibilities: The GIS Expert will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct spatial analysis and create detailed maps to support project objectives.
Collaborate with project teams to identify GIS needs and develop appropriate solutions.
Manage and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
Provide training and support to staff on GIS tools and methodologies.
Develop technical reports and presentations based on GIS analysis.
Stay updated on the latest GIS technologies and trends to enhance project outcomes.
Assist in the development of project proposals that incorporate GIS components.
Engage with stakeholders to gather geographic data and ensure its proper use in projects.
Contribute to the development of GIS-related policies and procedures within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex spatial data.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of remote sensing and spatial data collection methods is an advantage.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Geospatial Science, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in GIS-related roles. Experience working with international organizations or in development projects is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in managing GIS projects and providing technical support is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Mongolian or other local languages is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
