Job Overview:
The Youth Consultant for U-Report Steering Group will play a crucial role in empowering young people to express their opinions on issues that affect their lives. This position is part of UNICEF's U-Report initiative, which aims to engage youth through digital platforms, allowing them to participate in polls and share their experiences on various topics such as education, mental health, and climate change. The consultant will work under the supervision of UNICEF, contributing to the development and implementation of U-Report activities that align with youth priorities. The role involves active participation in steering group meetings, collaboration with UNICEF program teams, and the co-design of U-Report polls. The consultant will also be responsible for promoting U-Report within their networks and engaging with youth organizations to enhance outreach and participation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in monthly Steering Group meetings, contributing to discussions and ongoing activities.
  • Engage in regular check-ins with assigned UNICEF programme teams to stay updated and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with UNICEF and Steering Group members to co-design U-Report polls, identifying relevant topics and drafting questions.
  • Review U-Report poll results and contribute to discussions on key findings and programmatic recommendations.
  • Support the development of digital content for social media platforms, including generating ideas and contributing to content creation.
  • Promote U-Report within personal networks and engage with youth groups and organizations to expand outreach and partnerships.
  • Participate in relevant online and/or face-to-face events, representing youth perspectives and contributing to discussions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Secondary school certificate.
  • Experience in collaborating with UNICEF or similar organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a drive for results.
  • Fluency in Italian, both verbal and written.
  • Access to a mobile phone with reliable bandwidth for video calls.
  • Aged between 18-24 years.
  • Resident of Italy.
  • Contextual understanding of community issues, particularly among youth with a migratory background.

Educational Background:
A secondary school certificate is required for this position. Additional educational qualifications related to social sciences, community development, or youth engagement may be advantageous but are not mandatory.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience in collaborating with UNICEF or similar organizations, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to youth empowerment. Experience in community work or volunteering is desirable, particularly in contexts that involve youth engagement and advocacy.

Languages:
Fluency in Italian is essential for this position, both verbal and written. Knowledge of English or other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

The consultancy is home-based in Italy and will last for a duration of 26.6 days over 8 months, from May 2026 to December 202
  • The consultant will be compensated based on the timely submission of deliverables. Travel within Italy may be required, with expenses reimbursed up to EUR 25
  • All travel must comply with UNICEF's regulations, and the consultant is responsible for their travel arrangements. Selected candidates will undergo rigorous background checks and must confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19 prior to the assignment.
