Job Overview:
The Operations Support Officer will play a crucial role in providing operational support to the Mindanao Operations Officer. This position involves facilitating services across various functional areas, including budget management, financial reporting, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics management, information and communications technology (ICT), human resources, and safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The officer will be responsible for identifying operational and business needs and contributing to practical, cost-effective solutions that ensure value for money. The role also emphasizes the importance of ICT management, information security, and controls, as well as supporting supply and logistics strategies to meet programmatic needs. The Operations Support Officer will manage office premises with a focus on accessibility and sustainability, ensuring that all operations align with UNICEF's mission to promote children's rights and equity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Support Officer will perform a variety of duties, including:
  • Providing operational support to the Mindanao Operations Officer in budget, financial management, and reporting.
  • Assisting in facilities management and administration tasks.
  • Supporting supply and logistics management to ensure procurement of fit-for-purpose products and services.
  • Facilitating business transactions processed by the Country office with a focus on efficiency and risk management.
  • Contributing to the identification of operational needs and proposing cost-effective solutions.
  • Supporting ICT management and ensuring information security.
  • Promoting voluntary action through engagement with communities and participating in UNV activities.
  • Preparing reports and documentation related to operational functions and performance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of operations relevant to UNICEF, possess technical capabilities or knowledge transferable to UNICEF procedures, and exhibit discretion and political sensitivity. The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to ethical standards. Additionally, candidates should be resourceful, able to manage information confidentially, and responsive to client needs. A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment are also essential.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of operations management principles and practices, particularly in the context of humanitarian or development work.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in operations support, project management, or a related field. Experience working in a multicultural environment and familiarity with UN or international organizations will be advantageous. The ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure is essential for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Filipino or other local languages is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Cotabato City, Philippines. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position includes benefits such as a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA), insurance coverage, annual leave of 2.5 days per month, and access to learning and career development resources. Upon successful completion of the assignment, an Exit Lump Sum Allowance will be provided. The role requires a genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UNICEF's mission.
