Job Overview: The Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing the knowledge sharing and communication strategies of the ICAT Secretariat. This position involves providing technical guidance and support for knowledge development activities, overseeing the implementation of ICAT’s communications and partnership strategy, and managing the development of ICAT’s toolbox and training programs. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring that ICAT’s objectives are effectively communicated to stakeholders and partners, and that knowledge sharing activities are maximized to enhance the capacity of ICAT partner countries. The role requires a strategic thinker who can design and implement comprehensive communication plans that align with ICAT’s mission and goals, while also engaging with various audiences to promote ICAT’s initiatives and successes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance and support to the knowledge development and sharing activities of the ICAT Secretariat, including the development of a Knowledge Management (KM) strategy and action plan.
Coordinate planning for ICAT knowledge sharing activities, ensuring effective communication of ICAT’s approach and objectives.
Organize knowledge exchange events and training sessions for ICAT partner countries, utilizing various modalities such as webinars and face-to-face meetings.
Lead knowledge management activities for ICAT publications and outreach materials.
Design and oversee the implementation of ICAT’s communications and partnership strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields with additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge management and communication activities is required, or 9 years if combined with a Bachelor’s degree.
At least three years of experience in climate change and climate policy is required.
A deep understanding of national and international climate policy processes is essential.
Experience in the international development sector is a significant asset.
Familiarity with web design and social media management is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as International Relations, Environmental Management, or Communications. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields may be accepted if accompanied by additional professional experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of climate action and communication strategies.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge management and communication activities. If the candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree, a total of 9 years of experience is required. Additionally, candidates must have at least three years of experience specifically related to climate change and climate policy, demonstrating a deep understanding of the relevant processes and frameworks. Experience in the international development sector is considered a significant asset, as it provides context for the role's responsibilities.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners across different regions.
