Job Overview: The position of Consultant for Gender Integration and Water Management is crucial within the framework of the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP). The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the WWAP Senior Water and Gender Programme Specialist and will collaborate closely with the National Senior Gender and Water Integration Expert for Vietnam. The primary function of this role is to support the collection, systematization, and analysis of relevant data, particularly focusing on sex-disaggregated data, to enhance the implementation of gender and inclusion-focused activities in the Cambodia-Mekong Delta Aquifer project. The consultant will play a vital role in ensuring that gender equality and the empowerment of women are integrated into all aspects of the project, thereby contributing to improved governance and sustainable utilization of water resources in the region. This position requires a proactive approach to liaising with national counterparts, conducting gender and livelihood analyses, and facilitating workshops and training sessions related to water and gender data collection.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: liaising with national counterparts involved in the Cambodia-Mekong Delta Aquifer project; supporting the development and implementation of gender and livelihood analyses with a focus on sex-disaggregated data; assisting in the organization and facilitation of workshops and training sessions for project staff and stakeholders; aiding in the monitoring and evaluation of gender-related activities; preparing and managing data for analysis and reporting; developing project reports for donors and stakeholders; organizing outreach activities and presentations; revising and translating data collection tools; and performing any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor. The consultant will also be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and accountability throughout the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree (MSc) considered an asset. Relevant fields include natural sciences, water studies, economics, or related disciplines. A specialization in data management, particularly focusing on natural resource management (NRM), integrated water resources management (IWRM), or socio-economic data is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have excellent knowledge of both English and Vietnamese, as well as a minimum of three years of experience in data and database management. Experience in water, livelihood, and gender topics is advantageous, as is proven experience in interacting with diverse stakeholders, particularly community and local government parties in Vietnam. Experience in project monitoring and evaluation is also preferred.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding an advanced degree (MSc) in natural sciences, water studies, economics, or related fields. A degree or specialization in data management with a focus on natural resource management, integrated water resources management, or socio-economic data is highly desirable.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in data and database management. Experience in the fields of water, livelihood, and gender topics is considered an asset. Languages: Proficiency in both English and Vietnamese is mandatory for this position. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential, and knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus but is not required.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as a non-staff contract with a duration ranging from 7 to 11 months.
