Job Overview: The Supply Chain Management Senior Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of logistics and customs processes for UNOPS in Uzbekistan. Reporting to the Procurement Senior Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, including the Supply Chain Management Senior Associate, governmental authorities, and customs clearance agents. The position requires a proactive approach to managing the logistics of imported goods and domestic shipments, ensuring compliance with UNOPS and government regulations. The role also involves preparing logistical reports and maintaining the security and organization of stored assets, making it essential for the candidate to have strong organizational and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities of the Supply Chain Management Senior Assistant include:
Coordinating with the Supply Chain Management Senior Associate to implement a logistical plan for customs processes and delivery of imported goods.
Supporting the Ministry of Health/Project Management Unit with customs clearance issues related to UNOPS supplies.
Liaising with governmental authorities and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of shipments.
Ensuring timely approval of necessary documents for customs clearance of arriving shipments.
Coordinating with customs clearance agents for the safe and fast release of goods.
Verifying the correctness of shipping documents from suppliers in compliance with regulations.
Processing entry and exit clearances for shipments across Uzbekistan.
Ensuring the secure storage and organization of assets.
Preparing and submitting logistical reports as requested. 1
Performing any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the position include a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum requirement. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or related fields is desirable. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in logistics support services, preferably in national or international organizations. Proficiency in computer and office software, as well as experience with web-based management systems, is essential. Experience working with the Uzbekistan Customs Authority and in a Customs Broker Company is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. A first University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or equivalent disciplines is considered desirable for this position.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in logistic support services, which can be gained through work in national or international public or corporate organizations. This experience should include proficiency in computer systems and office software, as well as familiarity with web-based management systems. Relevant experience with the Uzbekistan Customs Authority and in a Customs Broker Company is also advantageous.
Languages: The mandatory language requirements for this position include an intermediate level of English. Additionally, fluency in either Uzbek or Russian is required, with fluency in both languages considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and authorities.
Additional Notes: This position is classified under the Local ICA Support contract type at the LICA-5 level. The contract duration is a retainer for up to 150 working days within one year.
