Job Overview: The Local ICA Specialist position focuses on providing professional photography and videography services for various UNOPS projects in South Sudan. The incumbent will be responsible for capturing high-quality images and videos that effectively communicate the stories and impacts of the projects. This role requires creativity and technical skills in photography and videography, as well as the ability to work in challenging environments. The specialist will collaborate with UNOPS personnel to develop concepts and scripts for videos, ensuring that all materials adhere to UNOPS branding and technical guidelines. The position also involves writing descriptive captions and providing translations and subtitles for video content. The incumbent will play a crucial role in documenting the work of UNOPS and showcasing the positive outcomes of its projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Local ICA Specialist include:
Photography: Capture high-resolution images of various projects, write descriptive captions, and submit photographs in line with UNOPS branding.
Videography: Create concepts and scripts for videos, record interviews and b-roll footage, edit videos to comply with UNOPS guidelines, and provide translations and subtitles.
Ensure high-quality production by following UN guidelines on human rights and dignity.
Provide all necessary equipment for photography and videography.
Deliver high-quality, color-corrected footage within five days of assignment completion.
Maintain communication with the UNOPS team to agree on tasks, locations, and types of materials to be produced.
Arrange travel and logistics as needed for project assignments.
Submit all deliverables, including photos, videos, and metadata, according to UNOPS requirements.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Local ICA Specialist position include:
A Bachelor’s degree in photography, journalism, fine arts, media studies, or a related field.
Secondary School Education with relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of a first-level degree.
A combination of academic credentials and/or industry certifications may be accepted in lieu of university education.
Strong technical skills in photography and videography, with a portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
Knowledge of UN branding and communication standards is preferred.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in photography, journalism, fine arts, media studies, or a related field. Candidates with Secondary School Education and significant relevant experience may also be considered. A combination of academic credentials and industry certifications may be accepted in lieu of a university degree, emphasizing the importance of practical experience in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, two years with a Master's degree, six years with a Technical Diploma, and eight years with Secondary School Education. Candidates should have experience in shooting images in difficult environments, visual storytelling, interviewing subjects, and photographic editing. Additionally, a minimum of three years of experience in photographing conferences, workshops, and individuals, as well as three years of experience in recording, producing, and editing videos, is required. Experience in developmental projects and conducting interviews in the field is considered an asset, along with prior experience in a UN setting.
Languages: Fluency in reading, spoken, and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders during project documentation.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is for a duration of one year, and it is classified as a Local ICA Specialist at the LICA Specialist-9 level. The position is based in Juba, South Sudan, and may involve travel and logistics arrangements as needed for project assignments.
