Job Overview: The intern position within the WHO's Health Emergencies Programme focuses on providing hands-on experience in change management, specifically in transformation and project-based change management. The intern will assist in the adoption of project management principles within the division and support internal stakeholder engagement through the development and implementation of change management plans. The role involves contributing to the creation of workshop materials, stakeholder research, and the organization of meetings and events. The intern will also learn to apply change management frameworks and tools to enhance stakeholder engagement for specific projects, thereby furthering the strategic objectives of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for assisting with transformation initiatives, including the adoption of WSE principles and culture initiatives. They will help improve the adoption of a project management mindset within the division and engage with internal stakeholders by developing and implementing change management plans. The intern will also assist in creating workshop materials and presentations, conduct stakeholder research, draft and publish content for SharePoint and web projects, and organize meetings, events, and consultations. Additional duties may include developing infographics and editing materials as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed at least three years of full-time studies in a relevant degree such as business, change management, or marketing. They should also be enrolled in a course of study leading to a formal qualification. Interns should demonstrate core competencies in teamwork, communication, and planning & organizing. Familiarity with commonly used computer programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and MS Teams is essential. Experience in change management, communications, and/or marketing is also required, along with the ability to produce and deliver content for various stakeholder needs.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least three years of full-time studies in a relevant field at a university or equivalent institution. Candidates who have recently graduated may also apply, provided they do so within six months of completing their formal qualification. The educational qualifications must be obtained from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: The position requires experience in change management, communications, and/or marketing. Candidates should have academic or professional experience in the subject area, including developing and delivering content for diverse stakeholders through various mediums. Experience in organizing events involving public sector participants is also beneficial.
Languages: Essential: Expert knowledge of English is required. Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of another UN language is preferred, which would enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.

Interns do not receive a salary but are provided with a living allowance that varies based on their permanent residence and the duty station. In Berlin, the maximum allowance is 619 EUR per month for residents and 1440 EUR for those residing outside the duty station. Additionally, interns receive a daily lump sum of 10 EUR for meal expenses and are covered by accident and medical insurance. Candidates should be aware that internships at WHO are highly competitive, and only a limited number of applicants will be accepted each year. Selected candidates must provide proof of enrollment in an eligible course of studies and complete a medical certificate of fitness for work.
