Job Overview:
The IT Assistant (Physical Security Systems Expert) will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the UN House in Beirut, Lebanon. This position involves the design, configuration, and maintenance of physical security systems, including Physical Access Control, Video Surveillance, and Perimeter Intrusion Detection systems. The expert will be responsible for developing design concepts and specifications, implementing security projects, and managing integrated security solutions. The role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting system issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The IT Assistant will also provide support for computer systems and peripherals associated with security operations, actively monitor system performance, and coordinate with vendors to meet service level agreements. Training end-users and preparing cost estimates for security system procurement are also key responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop design concepts and specifications for physical security systems.
  • Assist in implementing policies and procedures related to Physical Security Systems.
  • Lead the development, installation, and management of integrated security solutions.
  • Resolve complex issues related to physical security systems and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including system backups and integrity checks.
  • Evaluate and recommend commercial applications and products.
  • Conduct research and post-installation testing of systems.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate should also demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Security Management, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in physical security systems or IT security would be advantageous. Continuous professional development in relevant technologies and security practices is encouraged.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT support, specifically in the area of physical security systems. Experience in managing security projects and working with integrated security solutions is highly desirable. Familiarity with UN or similar international organizations' security protocols would be a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication within the local context and with regional stakeholders. Additional languages may be considered an asset.

This position is full-time and based in Beirut, Lebanon. The contract duration and specific terms will be discussed during the interview process. The role may involve responding to emergencies outside of regular working hours, and candidates should be prepared for this responsibility.
