We work alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable people to help meet their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Since the organisation was first founded in 1982, we have set up development programmes in more than 60 countries and responded to many emergencies. Today we have a budget of around 150 million euros, with 3500 employees worldwide. The HI network is an organisation made up of a Federation (with 2 operational HQs in Lyon and Brussels), 8 national associations (Germany, Belgium, Canada, United States, France, Luxembourg, United Kingdom and Switzerland) and the HI Institute on Humanitarian Action. All these entities work concertedly to implement HI’s international aid and development mandate. The Federation is responsible for implementing the network’s social missions in around sixty countries. It operates under the names “Humanity & Inclusion” or “Handicap International” depending on the country. The national associations are known as “Handicap International” in continental Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland) and “Humanity & Inclusion” in Canada, United Kingdom and United States. CONTEXT: As Global WASH Specialist, you are a member of the Basic Needs & Economic Inclusion Unit, part of the Social & Inclusion Division (S&I Division) The S&I Division is composed of 20 persons, around 5 Units: Basic Needs & Economic Inclusion (BaNEI), Inclusive Governance, Inclusive Education, Social development, and Technical Assistance for Inclusion. The BaNEREI Unit, currently composed by 7 people: (1 Emergency Livelihood Specialist (covering the sectors of WASH, Shelter and Food assistance), 1 Emergency Cash & Economic recovery Specialist, 1 security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security Specialist, 1 WASH Specialist, 1 Economic Inclusion Specialist and 1 Policy Lead and a Manager. The BaNEREI unit encompasses initiatives in emergency, recovery and development settings with around 74 projects in more than 35 countries that range from WASH, NFI distribution, food assistance (delivered through in kind or cash), wage to self-employment, graduation projects, economic recovery and resilience. ** Under the Management of the BaNEI Unit Manager and in the team responsibility of the Emergency Livelihood Specialist acting as Team Leader, in support of the operational teams (headquarters and field), with a strong functional link with the other Specialists and the Emergency Division you support the development of HI strategy for the WASH sector and you are in charge of developing and framing the approach and tools related to the implementation of WASH activities in humanitarian responses, as well as providing technical support and staff training for the proper implementation of field projects. This is a fixed term position in order to support the significant increase of WASH projects in the field, with possibility of renewal according to needs and funding opportunities. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be under the responsibility of the BaNEREI Unit Manager and the coordination of the Emergency Livelihood Specialist acting as Team Leader, in support of the operational teams (headquarters and field), with a strong functional link with the other Specialists,. You will also have a strong professional relationship with the Emergency Division team, especially with the Roving Emergency Livelihood Manager, part of the emergency roving pool (participation to the working groups, contribution to the response strategy, etc.). As Global WASH Specialist, you will support the implementation of HI strategy for the WASH sector, lead and provide technical and strategic support for the design and implementation of WASH projects in the countries of intervention, reinforce the WASH capacities of HQ and field staff and actively participate in and represent HI in global WASH networks.** Your main mission will be to support HI and its country programs in the design and implementation of WASH activities In this part your main tasks will be: · Support to WASH projects and staff: · Knowledge management: contribute to the improvement of technical know-how through the management of the HI WASH Toolbox, the development of lessons learnt and the technical learning from projects by using lessons learned and best practices (review of capitalization and assessments). · Collaboration with Emergency Division · WASH internal networking · WASH external networking · Contribute actively to the strategic and programmatic development of the BANEREI unit within the Social & Inclusion Division. DESIRED PROFILE: · You hold a Bachelor, Master Degree in a WASH related field (engineer, technical and/or environmental studies…) or an equivalent training in a WASH related discipline · You have at least 5 years technical experience in the implementation of WASH projects/programmes in emergency contexts. A HQ experience would be an asset. · You have good knowledge of WASH key concepts, standards, approaches and inter-sectorial integration & good knowledge on the prevention and control of WASH-related diseases and COVID19 · You have experience and good knowledge on the design, implementation and evaluation of hygiene promotion activities, sanitation activities, water supply activities · You demonstrate experience in building and/or strengthening WASH knowledge and skills · You are aware of key concepts of disability & gender and age considerations in WASH activities · You have a very good understanding of the humanitarian context (standards, stakeholders, mechanisms) · You know writing and supporting the implementation of strategic guidance as well as tool development · You are familiar with intercultural participatory approaches. · you have good communication skills and able to interact with people from different cultures; you are flexible, patient and not afraid to evolve in a changing environment · You are flexible and available for field missions · You are fluent in English and have a high level of French (both orally and in writing) - (please note that English is the working language within the BaNEREI team) - Spanish or Arabic is a plus CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION: · Type of contract : Fixed Term Contract of 6 months with a possible renewal · Additional benefits: luncheon vouchers and health insurance · 5 weeks of annual leave
