Job Description
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH looking for consultants to develop a baseline study on Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support for the Lake Chad Basin Region. The BMZ financed GIZ APSA project (support for the AU to prevent and manage violent conflicts and to consolidate peace within the APSA framework supports the activities of the AU in the Lake Chad Basin Region in the intervention area "Gender-sensitive measures for peace consolidation. The Boko Haram insurgency is almost ten years, the protracted armed conflict has displaced around 2.3 million people and caused severe socio-economic damage. The military response alone has proven insufficient, showing the necessity of a new approach encompassing comprehensive, multi-sectoral and coordinated efforts and humanitarian-development-peace (HDP) collaboration across borders to address the root causes of the conflict and prepare the ground for long-term peacebuilding and development. This approach is captured in the Regional Strategy for the Stabilization (RSS), Recovery and Resilience of the Boko Haram-affected Areas of the Lake Chad Basin. A ground-breaking initiative led by the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and adopted by its Member States in August 2018 and endorsed by the African Union Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council in December 2018. To implement the RSS, the LCBC has convened a regional stakeholder forum that took place in Niger from 18 to 20 June 2019. The consultancy is expected to commence on 5th July 2021 and will finish by 30th September 2021. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Eligible candidates should have the following qualifications: Qualifications of the four consultants:
  • Education: university qualification (master’s) in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Psychology, Health Management, Public Health or similar fields
  • Professional experience: 10 years’ experience in research and 10 years of experience in working in the area of MHPSS
  • Experience in the region: Extensive knowledge and good networks in the countries Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria, especially in the border region around Lake Chad Language skills: Business fluency in English and French, language skills in Hausa would be an asset
