Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Reporting and Analysis Support: Preparing periodic reports, briefing materials, and background notes; compiling inputs from colleagues; monitoring AU and UN partnership developments; maintaining reporting trackers and databases.
Coordination and Meeting Support: Assisting in the preparation of materials for meetings and workshops; taking notes during meetings; supporting logistical arrangements for events.
Research and Knowledge Management: Conducting background research on AU UN cooperation frameworks; collecting and organizing information for policy discussions; contributing to knowledge management efforts.
Administrative Support: Assisting with routine administrative tasks; supporting preparations for missions and conferences; providing general administrative support to the team.
Communication and Visibility Support: Preparing content for internal communication platforms; documenting good practices and partnership milestones.
Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). The field of study should be closely related to the internship functions, particularly in reporting, research, and AU UN partnership engagement. Suitable academic backgrounds include International Relations, Political Science, Peace and Security Studies, African Studies, Public Policy, Gender Studies, or other relevant disciplines. Studies in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Public Relations may also be considered if relevant to the internship functions. Proficiency in standard office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required, along with familiarity with data compilation and reporting support.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a strong academic background in fields related to international relations, political science, or other relevant disciplines. A graduate degree or a bachelor's degree nearing completion is required, with a focus on areas that align with the functions of the internship.
