The Joint Intelligence and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Division (JISD) of NATO is a critical component of the organization, focusing on intelligence and security matters. Established to enhance NATO's operational effectiveness, JISD operates under the leadership of the Assistant Secretary General for Intelligence and Security. It consists of two main pillars: the Intelligence Pillar and the NATO Office of Security. The division is responsible for providing timely and reliable intelligence to NATO HQ customers, developing intelligence policy, and supporting various military and civilian elements within NATO. JISD plays a vital role in ensuring that NATO's intelligence capabilities are aligned with its strategic objectives, operating in a multinational environment with a diverse workforce.

Job Overview:
The GEOINT Data Architect position is integral to the Geospatial Section of the Situation Centre at NATO HQ. The role involves being the focal point for all Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) matters, ensuring the provision and quality of geospatial information necessary for decision-making processes. The incumbent will design, develop, deploy, and monitor data-driven GEOINT systems, coordinating closely with various NATO entities and stakeholders. This position requires a deep understanding of data architecture and management practices, as well as the ability to improve GEOINT data exploitation for enhanced situational awareness. The role also includes contributing to the development of NATO-wide geospatial policies and engaging with international organizations to ensure compliance with NATO's geospatial standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GEOINT Data Architect will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: designing and maintaining GEOINT tools and data infrastructure; implementing effective data architecture and management practices; providing guidance on data management systems; coordinating with other divisions for data exploitation projects; representing the Geo & Space Services Section in various working groups; advising on the development of NATO GEO and GEOINT policies; participating in technical trainings and conferences; and collaborating with relevant GEOINT departments across NATO and other international organizations. The incumbent may also be required to deputize for the Section Head, perform additional duties in different organizational elements, and undertake temporary duty assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in data architecture, modeling, and schema design. They should have at least 5 years of experience with various database technologies, including graph, NoSQL, SQL, and others. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in architectural design and implementation of data-driven projects for GEOINT is required. Relevant experience with geospatial big-data tools and technologies is essential, along with a background in working in an international environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A university degree at the Bachelor level in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is required for this position. A post-graduate or Master's degree in relevant fields such as Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning is desirable and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience, specifically a minimum of 6 years in data architecture and related fields. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on data-driven projects, particularly in the context of GEOINT, and experience in an international military or civilian environment is highly valued.

Languages:
Candidates must have an advanced level of spoken and written English, as it is the working language at NATO HQ. They will be required to pass a computer-based test in English and demonstrate their language abilities during the interview process. An elementary level of French is considered a desirable qualification, enhancing communication capabilities within the multinational environment of NATO.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Project linked NATO International Civilian (PLN) role with a three-year definite duration contract. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance requirements and must be eligible for NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET clearance. The role may involve irregular hours and travel for work.
