Job Overview: The Project Manager will oversee the Women’s Resilience, Empowerment, Access, Capacities and Human Rights (Women’s R.E.A.C.H. Project) in Myanmar. This role involves planning, implementing, and managing the project interventions to ensure that the needs of GBV survivors and at-risk women are met through integrated livelihoods and GBV prevention strategies. The Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including the project and operations team at the Country Office, the Regional Office, UN Women HQ, and other partners to ensure successful implementation of the project. The position requires a strong focus on achieving project outcomes, including increasing the resilience capacities of vulnerable women and enhancing community support for women’s socio-economic participation. The Project Manager will also be responsible for monitoring project activities, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with UN Women policies and donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the UN Women Women’s R.E.A.C.H Project by planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring the annual workplan and individual partner workplans, ensuring effective resource use and compliance with policies.
Design and manage women’s economic empowerment activities, exploring market contexts and linking women to decent work opportunities.
Manage the project’s budget and financial resources, writing financial reports and supervising project staff.
Build partnerships and support partner engagement, ensuring effective collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
Develop knowledge management strategies for effective information sharing and communication of project impact.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is an added advantage. Candidates should have strong project management skills, knowledge of gender equality, and the ability to synthesize performance data for strategic decision-making.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. Project management certifications are preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management at the national and/or international level is required. This includes experience in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting. Candidates should have experience in gender issues, women’s economic empowerment, and collaboration with local and international organizations. Supervisory experience is also required, along with familiarity with administrative systems and UN norms.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Myanmar language is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
