Job Overview: The Associate, Integrity Screening & Research, Advisory & Assurance is expected to be a subject matter expert (SME) in integrity screening, with a comprehensive understanding of market practices, policies, and governance structures across various lines of defense. This role involves collaborating with teams across the first, second, and third lines of defense to develop operational procedures that comply with screening frameworks and policies, including sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and adverse media screening. The Associate will play a crucial role in ensuring that the EBRD adheres to its risk appetite by delivering accurate and timely screening of parties involved in banking transactions. The position requires the individual to work closely with senior team members and stakeholders to influence outcomes and ensure compliance with integrity due diligence guidelines. The Associate will also be responsible for supporting assurance activities and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate will be responsible for providing SME advice and assurance in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring alignment with operational metrics such as timeliness, quality, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include responding to technical queries, communicating with relevant departments on projects, and ensuring decision-makers are aware of associated risks. The Associate will help build a procedure/process library, drive a culture of quality responsibility among team members, and support the improvement of the operational control environment. They will ensure new processes meet quality standards and identify shortfalls for remediation. Additionally, the Associate will develop best practice guidelines, train new colleagues, and supervise their work to maintain high standards. Continuous improvement efforts will be essential to enhance service experience and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience. Significant industry experience in anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) activities is required, with a deep understanding of sanctions, PEPs, and adverse media screening. Familiarity with operationalizing policies into sustainable practices is highly beneficial. Candidates should have experience in conducting assurance testing and influencing improvements to ensure adherence to standards. Strong problem-solving, people management, and conflict management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively in English. A collaborative and solution-oriented attitude with a proven track record in KYC/AML teams is necessary, as well as strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as finance, law, or business is required. Equivalent work experience in related areas may also be considered acceptable. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of compliance, risk management, and operational processes relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in the financial services industry, particularly in AML/KYC activities, with a focus on integrity screening and compliance.
