Job Overview:

The intern will work under the supervision of the Technical Designer, contributing to the creation and modification of various graphic materials, including illustrations, logos, and layouts. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to adhering to the editorial and visual standards set by the Radiocommunication Bureau. The intern will also assist in preparing visual materials for technical documents, ensuring clarity and accuracy in the presentation of complex information. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced technical skills in graphic design while gaining exposure to the workings of an international organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 1. Participating in the creation and modification of graphics, ensuring they meet the BR's editorial and visual standards. 2. Contributing to the preparation of drawings and visual materials as requested by the BR. 3. Assisting in the review of figures and graphics, identifying necessary editorial and visual corrections under the guidance of the Technical Designer. 4. Preparing curves, charts, and graphs from tables and mathematical formulae, ensuring accuracy and clarity in presentation. 5. Contributing to the editorial coherence of visual and graphical materials in relation to BR technical content. This role will require collaboration with other team members and may involve additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Visual Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field. While no prior work experience is required, familiarity with graphic design principles and software is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the ITU-R Editorial Style Guide and technical documents, as well as an understanding of the Radio Regulations (RR).

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Visual Design, Graphic Design, or Interaction Design is required for this internship. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for the technical and creative skills needed in the role.

Experience:
This internship does not require any prior work experience, making it an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or students currently enrolled in relevant academic programs. The focus is on providing practical experience and skill development in graphic design within an international context.

Languages:
Fluency in English at an advanced level is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of another UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish would be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a diverse international environment.

Additional Notes:
This is an unpaid internship position with a duration of six months. Candidates must be under 30 years of age, although exceptions may be made for those pursuing a Ph.D. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic program or have graduated within six months prior to the internship start date. Candidates must also be citizens of a Member State of ITU. It is important to note that this internship does not provide the same employment conditions as paid positions, and interns are responsible for their own medical insurance, travel expenses, accommodation, and living costs.
