Job Overview:

The role primarily involves assisting the Library team in providing reference and circulation services to members of the Court. Interns will engage in various tasks that support the library's mission to meet the information needs of the Court's constituents, including the Presidency, Chambers, Office of the Prosecutor, and Office of the Registry. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a multicultural and multilingual environment, contributing to the advancement of legal scholarship and supporting the Court's investigations and jurisprudence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: carrying out circulation tasks such as borrowing, renewing, and reserving items; registering and checking out users; answering inquiries via email, telephone, and in person; processing inter-library loan requests; locating online journal articles; and responding to reference queries. Additionally, interns will assist library patrons in conducting bibliographic research, record library statistics, shelve and label publications, and support cataloguing and classification workflows. They will also contribute to library projects, such as creating library guides, developing and updating the intranet/internet, and delivering training. Furthermore, interns may assist the Archives and Legacy team with the appraisal and description of materials as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognized university, with a strong academic record. While a qualification in library or information science is desirable, it is not mandatory. The internship is aimed at individuals with less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience, and practical experience in library, legal, or research settings is considered an asset. Educational Background:
A completed degree or being in the final stages of university studies is required for this internship. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a very good academic performance. While a background in library or information science is preferred, it is not a strict requirement for applicants.

The internship is targeted at candidates who are in the early stages of their professional careers, with a maximum of three years of relevant full-time professional experience. Practical experience is not a prerequisite for selection, but any relevant experience in library, legal, or research contexts may enhance an applicant's profile. Full training will be provided to all interns to ensure they are equipped to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, either French or English, is mandatory. A working knowledge of the other language is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of another official language of the Court, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to work in a diverse environment.

The internship is full-time and has a contract duration of between three and six months, which will be agreed upon prior to commencement.
