Job Overview:
The External Relations Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the External Relations Team of the Presidency at the ICC. This position is designed for individuals who are in the early stages of their professional careers and are eager to gain experience in international relations, diplomacy, and public awareness initiatives. The intern will assist in preparing background information for the President's travel and diplomatic meetings, which includes researching legal and political developments relevant to the Court's work. The intern will also draft and revise correspondence, speeches, and presentations, ensuring that all materials adhere to the Court's Protocol standards. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the ICC's mission of promoting justice and accountability on a global scale, while also gaining valuable insights into the workings of an international judicial institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The External Relations Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the External Relations Adviser. Key duties include: 1. Preparing background information for the President's travel and diplomatic meetings, including researching relevant legal and political developments and gathering information from other sections of the Court. 2. Drafting and revising external and internal correspondence, letters, speeches, presentations, and memoranda, ensuring compliance with Protocol standards. 3. Communicating with other Court organs regarding various external relations activities. 4. Taking notes during meetings and preparing summaries of those meetings. 5. Performing any other duties as required by the External Relations Team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognized university, with a strong focus on international criminal law, public international law, or international relations. A very good academic record is expected, demonstrating the candidate's knowledge and commitment to the field. While practical experience is not a prerequisite, any relevant experience may be considered an asset. Candidates must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to qualify for this internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed or be nearing completion of a degree from a recognized university, with a focus on international criminal law, public international law, or international relations. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the necessary knowledge and understanding of the legal and political frameworks relevant to the ICC's work.

Experience:
The internship is aimed at candidates who are at the beginning of their professional careers. While prior practical experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in international law, diplomacy, or related fields may enhance a candidate's application. Applicants should have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be eligible for the internship.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the official working languages of the Court. A working knowledge of French is highly desirable, as it is also an official language. Additionally, knowledge of other official languages of the Court, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may strengthen a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position with a contract duration of between three to six months, which must be agreed upon prior to commencement. Internships cannot be extended beyond six months. It is important to note that the ICC does not provide any remuneration for internship placements, and candidates must be able to support themselves financially throughout the duration of their internship. The Court encourages applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds and aims to improve geographical representation among its staff, particularly from non-represented and under-represented countries.
