Job Overview:

Interns will work closely with the Legacy and Archives team, contributing to the appraisal, accessioning, and description of both print and digital archival records. The role is designed for individuals who are in the early stages of their professional careers, providing them with hands-on experience in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Interns will be expected to assist in digitizing records, processing physical items, and responding to reference requests, thereby gaining valuable insights into the operations of an international court.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the Legacy and Archives team. These include appraising and accessioning archival records, both print and digital, ensuring that the Court’s historical documents are preserved for future reference. Interns will also be involved in digitizing records as necessary, which is crucial for enhancing accessibility and preservation. Additionally, they will process and package physical items according to best practices, respond to reference requests from staff and outside researchers, and monitor environmental conditions in the archive to ensure the integrity of the materials. Completing individual projects as agreed upon with supervisors will also be part of the role, allowing interns to contribute meaningfully to the Court’s archival efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or be nearing completion of their studies at a recognized university, with a strong academic record. While a qualification in archives, records management, or museum studies is desirable, it is not mandatory. The internship is aimed at individuals in the early stages of their careers, and practical experience is not a strict requirement. However, any relevant experience may be considered an asset. Candidates must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to qualify for this internship.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this internship includes a degree or being in the final stages of study at a recognized university. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a very good academic performance. While a specific qualification in archives, records management, or museum studies is preferred, it is not essential for application.
