Job Overview:
The Visiting Professional position within the Information Management Services Section, specifically in the Library, Archives and Legacy team, offers an opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the Court’s archives and institutional memory. This role is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in the fields of archives, legacy, and preservation within an international judicial context. The position requires a full-time commitment for a duration of three to six months, during which the selected candidate will assist in various archival tasks, including appraising and accessioning records, creating finding aids, and digitizing materials. The role is integral to maintaining the integrity and accessibility of the Court's historical documents and records, which are vital for ongoing legal processes and historical research.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Visiting Professional include: assisting the Archives and Legacy team with the preservation of the Court’s archives; appraising, accessioning, and describing archival print and digital records; creating finding aids to enhance accessibility; digitizing records as necessary to ensure their preservation; processing and packaging physical items according to best practices; responding to reference requests from staff or outside researchers; monitoring environmental conditions in the archive to ensure optimal preservation; completing individual projects as agreed upon with the team; and assisting with the provision of Library services as required. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of archival practice.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in archives, records management, museum studies, information science, library science, information management, or a related field from a recognized university. A strong academic record is expected, demonstrating the candidate's capability and commitment to the field. Additionally, candidates should have a service-oriented attitude, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to adapt to multicultural and multilingual environments. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, is also essential for this role.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as archives, records management, museum studies, information science, library science, or information management is required. The educational background should reflect a solid understanding of archival principles and practices, as well as a commitment to academic excellence, as evidenced by a very good record of academic performance.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least three years of relevant professional experience in fields related to archives, records management, or information services. This experience should ideally include practical work that aligns with the responsibilities of the Court, such as managing archival collections or working in a library or information management setting. Languages:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, either French or English, is mandatory.
