Job Overview: The position of Data Architect Consultant is integral to the Regional and Sectoral Data Group (RSD) within the Research Department of the IDB. This role is designed for an analytical and technically skilled individual who will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of data infrastructure and governance best practices. The RSD Group manages a wide array of data sources, both traditional and non-traditional, which are crucial for the Bank's operations and analytics. The Data Architect will work closely with the Data Technology Group to ensure that data governance policies align with IT infrastructure and business intelligence needs. This position requires a strong understanding of data architecture, interoperability, and cloud technologies, as well as the ability to develop scalable and marketable intelligence products for external audiences. The Data Architect will also be involved in the ongoing pilot of a Databricks-based data platform and the integration of CKAN for data cataloging, ensuring that the architecture supports seamless data access and analytics across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Architect Consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the design and implementation of RSD’s evolving data architecture, particularly focusing on the Databricks pilot and its integration with CKAN.
Ensuring that metadata management, data lineage tracking, and quality standards are embedded within the data architecture.
Defining data models, integration strategies, and API structures to facilitate access to sectoral and regional data.
Collaborating with the Data Governance Professional to ensure compliance with data governance policies, including access, metadata, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards.
Advising on technology selection and infrastructure design to create scalable data solutions for external audiences.
Optimizing data accessibility for research and analytics, ensuring integration with BI tools like Power BI.
Staying updated on emerging data technologies and interoperability solutions.
Collaborating with data engineers and external vendors to ensure reliable data operations and timely deliverables.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Data Architecture, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications in Databricks and Apache Spark are highly desirable, such as the Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional, or the Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark 3.
Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in data architecture or related roles, with a strong background in implementing and managing data solutions using Databricks. Familiarity with metadata management platforms, data catalogs, and APIs for data integration is also essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, and SQL, as well as experience with data governance frameworks and security policies.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Architecture, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Engineering is required for this position. Candidates with additional certifications in Databricks and Apache Spark will have an advantage, as these are critical for the role's responsibilities.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related fields. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Databricks and a proven track record of implementing data solutions. Experience with metadata management platforms, data catalogs, and building APIs is also important. The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including IT and business intelligence, is essential for success in this role.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in one of the other official languages of the Bank, which include Spanish, French, or Portuguese. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time international consultant position with a contract duration of 12 months, extendable up to 48 months, subject to eligibility.
