Job Overview:
The Membership and Annual Giving Manager is a pivotal role within WRI's Individual Philanthropy Sector, which is part of the broader Global Development Program. This position is responsible for building philanthropic support by acquiring, retaining, and engaging prospects and donors across various giving levels, including annual, sustainer, mid-level, and legacy giving. The Manager will develop and implement strategies to grow and sustain WRI's membership and annual giving programs, focusing on strengthening donor participation and revenue among individual supporters contributing up to $10,00
  • The role requires a strong understanding of donor management, multi-channel fundraising strategies, and the ability to move donors along a continuum of giving. The Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues across development and communications to enhance the organization's donor pipeline and ensure long-term philanthropic support for WRI's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Membership and Annual Giving Manager will manage the strategy and performance of WRI's membership and giving circle programs, including annual giving, sustaining, mid-level, and planned giving programs. Responsibilities include developing data-informed strategies to enhance donor acquisition, retention, engagement, and revenue, while incorporating stewardship, benefits, and experiences to encourage increased giving. The Manager will partner with Individual Philanthropy team leadership to identify and advance giving level and mid-level donor pipeline opportunities, establish and monitor program metrics, and regularly evaluate performance to adapt strategies as needed. Additionally, the Manager will maintain accurate reporting on fundraising performance, utilize WRI's CRM and analytics systems for strategy support, and ensure the integrity of donor data. The role also involves providing high-level customer service to individuals and family foundations, managing donor engagement and solicitation plans, and enhancing philanthropic activities that strengthen donor experiences. The Manager will help establish and grow multi-channel fundraising campaigns and develop digital donor journeys to support acquisition, conversion, retention, and stewardship.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, although equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience is required, with a proven track record of managing successful membership and annual giving programs that grow revenue and donor participation. Candidates should have specific knowledge of membership strategies and an understanding of the drivers and best practices that influence performance. Experience with multi-channel marketing, particularly in email, direct mail, and social media, is essential. The ability to produce fact-based reporting to inform decisions is necessary, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Asana, and CRM databases, preferably Salesforce. Candidates should demonstrate experience working independently, managing multiple projects, and prioritizing effectively.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree is required for this position, although equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to fundraising, marketing, communications, or a related field that supports the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of full-time work experience, specifically in managing membership and annual giving programs. Candidates should have a demonstrated history of successfully growing revenue and donor participation through effective strategies and engagement techniques. Experience in multi-channel marketing and fundraising is crucial, as is the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Languages:
