Job Overview:
The FAO Web and Forest Database Management Specialist will play a crucial role in the MERANTI project, focusing on the management, integration, documentation, testing, and quality checking of forest inventory and monitoring information systems that support the National Forest Inventory (NFI) 2.

• The Specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including the FAO, the Directorate General of Forestry Planning (IPSDH), and other technical partners, to assess existing systems and workflows, establish data governance and interoperability requirements, and provide technical direction and quality assurance for system improvements. The position requires a strong understanding of information systems and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams to ensure that data, applications, and infrastructure are aligned with project goals. The Specialist will not be responsible for detailed application coding or server administration but will provide essential requirements, technical reviews, coordination, and acceptance support to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the FAO Web and Forest Database Management Specialist include:

• Assessing existing data management workflows, database structures, analytical processes, and information systems supporting NFI 2.0 and other forest monitoring platforms.
• Identifying priority data management, interoperability, reporting, information-product, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security requirements for the next 12 months.
• Reviewing user requirements, metadata needs, data quality procedures, access arrangements, and data publication practices relevant to NFI.
• Assessing existing system architecture, application components, infrastructure dependencies, and security controls to identify potential technical and security risks.
• Ensuring that secure-by-design principles and appropriate security requirements are considered during system planning and integration activities.
• Preparing and maintaining a practical workplan, technical roadmap, and priority requirements for agreed system improvements.
• Supporting technical planning among FAO, IPSDH, and IT consultants and documenting agreed technical decisions.
• Supporting the FAO Information Resources Assistant to ensure that application and infrastructure designs follow applicable information security requirements.
• Reviewing implementation progress against the agreed workplan and flagging issues that require IPSDH/FAO decisions. 1
• Supporting senior colleagues in developing a practical data governance framework covering data standards, metadata, data quality control, publication, and user access for agreed NFI information products. 1
• Documenting and recommending improvements to data synchronization/workflows between various systems. 1
• Preparing technical documentation, workflow documentation, integration specifications, and user guidance materials for agreed outputs. 1
• Conducting knowledge-transfer sessions for IPSDH staff on data governance and integrated data management. 1
• Providing technical recommendations for future enhancements based on lessons learned during the consultancy.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the FAO Web and Forest Database Management Specialist position include:

• An advanced university degree (Master's) from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in information systems, database management, data governance, system integration, or related technical coordination, preferably in the context of forest inventory, forest monitoring, natural resources, environmental, or geospatial information systems.
• A working knowledge of English and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia.
• Candidates must be nationals of Indonesia or residents of the country with a valid work permit.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's) in Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO.
