This position requires the analyst to generate robust sectoral, technical, techno-economic, and policy analyses to support the decarbonization and competitiveness of Indonesia's heavy industries. The role involves examining pathways to reduce industrial emissions and the necessary policy and market conditions to facilitate a competitive transition. The analyst will conduct sector and techno-economic assessments, analyze policy and regulatory frameworks, and collect primary data to understand industry readiness and transition challenges. The findings will be translated into actionable research and policy recommendations, contributing to the development of Indonesia's emissions trading system and green industrial policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Heavy Industry Decarbonization Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Sector Analysis and Techno-Economic Assessment (35%): Maintaining and updating emission baselines and production profiles for assigned heavy industry sub-sectors, assessing decarbonization options, and building scenario and cost models under various assumptions.
  • Policy, Regulatory, and Green Trade Analysis (25%): Analyzing supply-side and demand-side policy instruments relevant to heavy industry decarbonization, assessing climate-related trade measures affecting Indonesian industrial exports, and benchmarking international green industrial policies.
  • Primary Data Collection and Industry Readiness Assessment (15%): Designing assessment frameworks, developing survey instruments, and conducting primary data collection with industry stakeholders.
  • Knowledge Products, Stakeholder Engagement, and Capacity Building (20%): Drafting research reports and policy briefs, supporting engagement with government and industry counterparts, and conducting training/workshops.
  • Management and Strategic Support (5%): Supporting project planning, tracking activities and deliverables, and providing inputs for donor reporting and project documentation.
