Job Overview:
The Electric Mobility Research Assistant will play a crucial role in WRI Indonesia's e-mobility portfolio, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas through sustainable transportation and vehicle electrification. This position is hybrid, requiring the employee to be in the office for 8 days per month, and involves working closely with the Urban Mobility Team to conduct technical research and analysis on electric mobility topics. The role will focus on developing zero-emission transport solutions to support transport decarbonization and energy sovereignty. The Research Assistant will engage in rigorous data collection, analysis, and model development, contributing to the National Green Logistics Corridor Initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) in Indonesia. The position requires collaboration with specialists and analysts to support knowledge development in electric mobility, ensuring that WRI Indonesia remains a thought leader in urban mobility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electric Mobility Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting technical research and analyses on various electric mobility topics, including electric mobility policies, zero-emission trucks, and green logistics corridors. This will involve using rigorous research methodologies such as methodology design, data collection, modeling, and analysis. The assistant will support the development of research on electric mobility policies through literature reviews, policy analysis, and the preparation of technical reports and presentations. Additionally, the role includes preparing materials such as concept notes and presentations relevant to electric mobility analysis, as well as contributing to the development of knowledge products that support WRI Indonesia's role in urban mobility. Project management responsibilities will also be part of the role, including administrative tasks, coordination of meetings, workshops, and dissemination activities, and maintaining project documentation. Regular coordination with the team regarding project updates and challenges will be essential, along with supporting follow-up on agreed actions and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, economics, geography, or a related field. A minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience in transportation is required, with a preference for candidates who have knowledge of and direct experience in electric mobility studies. The ability to support discrete elements of research projects with limited managerial guidance is essential, including skills in systematically reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing existing literature, as well as collecting, cleaning, organizing, and visualizing data. Strong documentation and communication skills are necessary to ensure transparency and accessibility of data processes for team members and reviewers. Candidates should be highly organized, systematic, and possess strong time management skills to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, economics, or geography is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of electric mobility and sustainable transportation solutions.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience in the transportation sector. Candidates with direct experience in electric mobility studies will be preferred, as this experience will be crucial for conducting the technical research and analysis required for the role. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and across cross-sectoral issues is also important.

Languages:
Business proficiency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills required for effective collaboration and reporting. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.

  • The consultant will be compensated on a daily rate basis, with a maximum of 108 working days for the entire contract period, averaging 18 working days per month. Candidates must have existing work authorization in Indonesia at the time of application, as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. The role is locally engaged, and Indonesian nationals are encouraged to apply. Final candidates may be required to take a test and/or provide writing samples as part of the selection process.
