Job Overview:
The Upstream and Advisory Manager for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at IFC will play a pivotal role in enabling investment opportunities, enhancing investment outcomes, and improving investment conditions in the East Asia and Pacific region. This position requires a strategic approach to business development, deal sourcing, and client support, focusing on creating and expanding markets and designing potential investment projects. The Manager will lead a team responsible for overseeing the development of the Upstream and Advisory business program, ensuring that services span the continuum of IFC’s operations from idea generation to investment and portfolio operations. The role demands frequent travel to other offices and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve IFC’s strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the Upstream and Advisory unit, ensuring high performance and motivation among team members. Key responsibilities include mentoring staff, supporting integration between upstream, advisory, and investment teams, and managing the unit’s budget and funding mix. The Manager will formulate strategies for industry sectors, enable investment opportunities by incubating high-impact projects, enhance investment outcomes through value-additive services, and improve investment conditions by collaborating with other teams across IFC and the World Bank Group. Additionally, the Manager will engage with stakeholders to foster partnerships and drive sector-wide changes, ensuring high-quality operations and effective project design throughout the project cycle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. A strong commitment to the mission and values of the World Bank Group and IFC is essential. Candidates should have a deep understanding of IFC’s strategic priorities, industry sectors, and the ability to link policy reforms with advisory interventions and investment solutions. Strong analytical skills, a proven track record of engaging with private sector clients and stakeholders, and excellent people management skills are also required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to innovate, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and deliver on project implementation for Upstream, Advisory, and Investment operations.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Economics, or International Relations is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of the financial and economic landscape in which IFC operates and to effectively contribute to the organization's strategic goals.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, particularly in roles that involve business development, investment, and advisory services. Candidates should have a strong track record of project implementation and engagement with various stakeholders, including private sector clients and government entities. Experience in fragile and conflict-affected contexts is also valued, as it demonstrates the ability to navigate complex environments and drive impactful solutions.
