Job Overview:
The logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager for the Core Pipeline is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all logistics activities related to core pipeline operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely, safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement, storage, handling, and delivery of pipeline materials and equipment from suppliers to project sites. The Logistics Manager will work closely with various departments, including procurement, project management, construction, and transportation, to ensure that all necessary materials are available at the right locations and times, adhering to project specifications and schedules. The position faces challenges such as supply availability, limited market capacity, and unpredictable transportation routes, requiring effective stock management and coordination across multiple field locations while complying with SI and SHF procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and operationalize the pipeline logistics structure, tools, and workflows.
  • Set up effective stock management, tracking, replenishment, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Coordinate initial procurement, transportation, warehousing, and pre-positioning of pipeline supplies.
  • Ensure smooth handover and coordination with the Supply Chain Specialist and relevant field teams.
  • Monitor the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security context and adapt transportation and supply plans accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate stock management and ensure timely replenishment and delivery of supplies.
  • Collaborate with other Logistics/WASH actors and local partners to ensure effective operations.
  • Lead and enforce respect for humanitarian principles and SI policies within the team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics management, including procurement, transportation, warehousing, and stock management.
  • Experience in pipeline and inventory planning, forecasting, and replenishment.
  • Understanding of international freight and last-mile delivery operations.
  • Ability to establish and utilize logistics tracking, reporting, and stock management tools.
  • Knowledge of donor compliance and humanitarian logistics procedures.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to take initiative.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage logistics operations in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3 years in a similar logistics management position. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities and challenges of logistics in emergency response situations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is essential for this position. Proficiency in French or Arabic is considered an advantage, as it enhances communication with local partners and stakeholders in the region.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses covered by SI. The organization implements a work-break system, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in N'Djamena are described as very good, with access to restaurants and a comfortable guesthouse environment, although field conditions may be more basic.
