Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Analyzing the political and humanitarian context in Chad and adapting NRC's programs to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
Prioritizing continuous improvement and innovation in humanitarian and protection programming, focusing on timely delivery.
Motivating and coaching staff to create effective teams, particularly within the Country Management Group.
Promoting accountability and adherence to the highest ethical standards, including safeguarding and humanitarian principles.
Leading all NRC advocacy efforts in the country and ensuring contributions to regional and global advocacy initiatives.
Developing and enforcing policies to promote diversity within the organization.
Serving as a proactive member of the Regional Management Group and collaborating with other country offices to enhance the overall response to the Chad refugee crisis.
Engaging with other country offices involved in the Chad refugee response to ensure holistic advocacy and programming.
Discussing staff retention and rotation with the Regional Director to maintain a stable and effective workforce.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Country Director position must possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Manager or Country Director role within a humanitarian or recovery context.
Proven experience working in complex and volatile environments, demonstrating the ability to navigate challenges effectively.
Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position, showcasing successful program delivery and impact.
Strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of personal leadership style and profile.
Fluency in both French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
Context-related skills and knowledge, particularly regarding the situation in Chad and the ongoing Sudan crisis.
Experience in advocacy work and familiarity with change management processes.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Country Director position includes a relevant degree in fields such as international relations, humanitarian studies, development studies, or a related discipline.
